I'm F@#*ing Ben Affleck!

I'm not a huge fan of Jimmy Kimmel in any way, but this little bit he had on last night after the Oscars was pretty hilarious! Who isn't in this video?! And to see Josh Groban swear at his piano is priceless!

Dance it out Friday!

This video just makes me want to live in its weird little world. Watch it, it is infectious. It makes me feel good in the same way I do while driving home on a Friday!

What does Zack do....

....when he's a little bored at work? He becomes an ordained minister through a few clicks of a mouse. I can now legally marry anyone within the state of California. Hmmmm Don't see it coming in handy, but its one more random thing off of life's big checklist.

My president free weekend

I had a really great weekend. Finally I was able to breathe a bit better and the chest cold from hell had subsided enough for me to feel human. My sister called Friday and tossed out the idea of going to check out the LA Derby Dolls for an intensive lesson in Roller Derby action. I had wanted to go for so long and it was the perfect opportunity to go somewhere new on a Saturday night.

My sister has always dreamed of being a roller derby queen, so I'm trying to convince her to strap on her skates and kick some butt. We'll see if she tries out in the next year or two. The best part for me would be helping her find a suitable name. Her red hair would help out with that....

I had a great time at the bout! I ran into friend Ernessa (Who used to be in the Tough Cookies) for the first time in ages. It was great to see her and meet the new hubby. I had to cheer the tough cookies on as it was the only tie in I knew here in LA, but for being underdogs in Saturday's bout, they came back with a vengence and kicked some serious ass. My voice is still a little raw from all the screaming. With names like Gori Spelling (and her number is 90210) Titty Titty Gang Bang, Laura Palm-Her and Laguna Beyatch, they won their way into my heart pretty fast.

Here they are after their big win:

Sunday was the Daytona 500 with my friends Billy and Glen. We had a great white trashy southern breakfast with grits and egg mess... it was delish. It was also possibly the gayest NASCAR party ever as the mimosas flowed between discussions of Points, new sponsers, areo-loose, and cocks. I'll spare you the details as many get a little freaked at me showing too much enthusiasm for this redneckiest of sports, but here's a few bullit points:

Tony Stewart: You're my man, but cut the hair and unswallow yourself.... the people are watching..
Reed Sorenson: You look a little less like a baby doll...way to grow up.
Kurt Busch: Fuck you....yeah, that about sums it up...
Dale Jr: Good job, can't wait to see how the rest of the season treats ya!
Franchitti: You are adorable, and the accent is killing us all, keep it up, glad you switched over from Indy...
Carl Edwards: just show us your abs and do that flip thing you do...
Newman: Congrats, first victory in years and its the biggest race you could have hoped for!

Monday I stayed in and mainly vegged and watched some good movies. You simply must check out "Closet Land" with Alan Rickman and Madeline Stowe. Really beautiful, amazingly creepy, and the perfect statement about interrogation and torture one could witness. This movie needs to be mailed to every single representative we have in this country and they should be forced to watch it..... while being waterboarded...

Then, the movie I've beeen saving to watch.... "Once"

It was great. Loved the music, which is 80% of the film and I now have a big ol' mancrush on Glen Hansard, star of the film and lead singer of the frames. He is dreamy....

Ahhh good weekend!

Umm.....that makes me feel funny

Is it bad when you are halfway through a can of A&W Root Beer and suddenly notice the new can design makes it look like the top of the can is dripping cum, that you feel a little sick and put it down.......only to suddenly crave more? What does it all mean?

Fluffy musta not made it...

Thanks to Edwin for sending me this sad, kinda funny image from SF.

My first and last impressions...

Ok so lets see how good I am with first impressions...

With the cast of Project Runway, I had looked only at their photos and told my good friend Lauren my impression of them based only on their looks and my past experience with the show. The following includes my original thoughts and how I feel now that we are down to the final three...er 4...er whatever..

Then: Chris is probably surprisingly the biggest fag
Now: Yup, but in a great way. He's no faggot like Christian. (That's a whole different league of gay) He's a sweet talented guy and I hope he kicks Rami's ass when it comes to who shows at Bryant Park

Then: Jillian has to be a bitch...she just seems that way
Now: Nope, a little stuffy but certainly not a bitch. I really like her attention to detail and ability to really tailor an outfit to the body.

Then: I bet I'll really like Carmen
Now: I did, it was sad to see her go but lets be honest.... she deserved it that week.

Then: Kevin is just sexy... yum!
Now: God yes! Still true. Wait, did he design something too? Sorry, I was distracted.

Then: Kit is probably the least talented but talks the biggest talk
Now: I disagree. She certainly wasn't the least talented. She had a great funky style I wish coulda stayed.....if it weren't for Mr. Crying pants she'd still be on.

Then: Sweet p?.....gimme a break old lady
Now: Ok, still a bad name, but she really has a flair for nice cocktail dresses! I dig her now. Sorry to see ya go, but it was time darlin'

Then: I bet Simone will cry alot
Now: Yup, and was gone fast.

Then: Victorya is probably the sweet one that everyone should be careful of cause she can play you and splay you in a matter of seconds
Now: Yup, that bitch was cold and stuck up. Can't wait to see you get made fun of at the reunion.

Then: Steven seems forgettable....he'll be kicked off first if Rami's arrogance doesn't get him first.
Now: Yup....Steven who? Oh mr creepy quiet voice.... or was that Marion?

Then: Simone and Jillian will end up in a big fight where they pull each others hair arguing about a sewing machine
Now: Wish I woulda seen that. Anytime when Jillian gets more animated than a smile I'm surprised. Still, I am excited to see her Bryant Park collection.

Then: Jack and Marion are both really full of themselves, I bet they will probably end up sleeping with each other
Now: Yup and yup! I'm guessing that one came true.

Then: Christian is the one I want to hate on first glance but I'll probably end up liking his tasteful, well sewn designs
Now: God did I call that one or what?

Then: oh and Ricky....fix that gap in your teeth dude, I can't stare at that for weeks upon weeks
Now: Yup!

Then: Elisa, you will win it all, and I'll be happy for your funky self
Now: I was so wrong, but she was a ball of crazy fun there for a while!

All in all I wasn't that far off. I'll have to try the same with Top Chef....

Yup, there it is...

Glen spinning fire NYE 2008

Here's some good footage of my friend Glen spinning fire in his side yard New Year's Eve. We all had a great time and the liquor had certainly been flowing by the time this all started. You can hear our inane comments in the background...

Fun photo friday...addition

As a teenage boy its hard asking yourself the big questions like: How much cologne is too much? Does my date like me? Where should I go to college? or...hmm I don't know, maybe..... How much spray tanning is too much spray tanning?

Answer is when you look like the following:

Ask and you shall receive!

The judges finally Auf'd the annoying crybaby Ricky from Project Runway.... jeesh, took ya long enough. A collective cheer from my world and a collective sigh from the Mesh Hat contingent. This is shaping up to be an interesting finale.

Reminder: "Twisted Love" screening 2/9/08

Just a friendly reminder to one and all, The Backyard Screening this Saturday is ON! It looks like the weather will comply and we are set for another crazy evening under the stars.

The festivities will begin at 7pm. Please remember to wear warm clothing, bring whatever ya want to munch on or drink, and as seating can get sparse if you have a few lawn chairs feel free to bring those too.

The first feature we had planned "Private Parts" is going to be substituted with a different and more exciting film for your enjoyment..... "Smiley Face." Sorry if we dashed your dreams, but you'll thank us.

Basic plot: After a young actress unknowingly eats her roommate's pot cupcakes, her day becomes a series of misadventures. You can't go wrong with a film that includes Anna Faris and some crazy pot misunderstandings. According to a few people I know expect to laugh your ass off!

Can't wait to see you all there!

Black Coffee in Bed

You asked for it Michael, now here ya go. My favorite group from Childhood was Squeeze. This song always brings me back to the days of hanging out with my sister in her room and dancing on the bed to such greats as "Pulling mussels from a shell" and "tempted."

Super Tuesday!

Since I am at a loss for the best way to say it, I'll let Lady Miss Kier from Deee-Lite do the talking for me...

Kitty Litter Cake

Also known as: Happy Birthday Anne!

My friend Lauren and I had a blast this past Saturday night making this sickening looking cake for our good bussy Anne. Happy 30th Annie, hope you had fun digging into the tasty treat!

Here's to you Jimbo!

My uncle Jim passed away this past Saturday morning. He was a great guy, put up a hard fight against cancer, and he'll be remembered lovingly by all who knew him. I have a few great memories from chilhood where he was that super uncle who could make it all better by just hanging out with you and listening, or some small token he picked up on a whim. I wish we had gotten more time or oportunities to be closer over the years. We're gonna miss ya Jimbo.

Fun photo friday...#15

Someday, somebody is gonna disappear down one!

It rained.... then the potholes came.... Is it bad of me to expect that the city maybe throw a little something in them so we don't have to lose or front suspension or tires? I almost disappeared down one on the way home the other day. It's as if the fuckin' road opened up and swallowed me for a second!
