Looking, and wishin' and hopin' and prayin'

Just an FYI... I am looking for a new place to live. Preferably on the Eastside of LA. (Atwater/ Glendale/ Los Feliz/ Silverlake) Anyone who thinks they might have a hook-up feel free to email me.

Also, I know i'm sorely late on bloggin' about burning man and that is because I still am waiting on my photos... and i've been swamped with work and psycho drama on the home front. I'll get to it soon, don't worry.

Anyone up for...

Derby Dolls bout between the Sirens and Fight Crew on the 13th of September? Roller Derby clears the mind and cleanses the pain palate I hear... its good for the soul.

Backyard Screening Time: Rock and Roll Fantasy!

Its that time again ladies and gentlemen, the boys of "Gay Gardens" invite you to another fun filled screening night at our house under the stars! This time we're taking no prisoners in our quest for Rock and Roll. Its time to hang out, lose control, rock out, drink up, and strap on a guitar cause we're bringing your "Rock & Roll Fantasy!" to life!

Our Feature Presentations:

Pre-show: "Heavy Metal Parking Lot" (1986)

A hilarious short documentary that truly gives us an impression of what it meant to be a metal fan in the 80's. Join us in the parking lot of a Judas Priest concert to observe such fans in their natural habitat.

"Ladies & Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains" (1981)

Corrine Burns (Diane Lane) retreats far into plans for her band, The Fabulous Stains, after her mother's death. So far that she books them on a tour with a washed-out glam-rock group and a rising British punk band, radically changes her appearance, attracts a cult following and national media attention. With luck like this, what could go wrong? Come check out both Diane Lane and Laura Dern in their first big roles on the silver screen and get a taste of what the Punk era was all about.

"The Phantom of the Paradise" (1974)

A Brian De Palma rock opera that is part Phantom of the Opera and part Faust. Record producer Swan steals both the music and the girl from composer Leach. After a terrible accident, disfigured Leach plans revenge on Swan and his rock palace, The Paradise, and becomes The Phantom. "He's been maimed and framed, beaten, robbed and mutilated. But they still can't keep him from the woman he loves." (Little known tid-bit: Sissy Spacek is credited as "set dresser" for this film, assisting her boyfriend (now husband) Jack Fisk, who was the film's production designer.)

Mid-Night Snack: "Tommy" (1975)

A psychosomatically deaf, dumb and blind boy becomes a master pinball player and the object of a religious cult. A veritable who's who of the 70's rock scene, this film was out of this world and ahead of its time. Join us in the midnight hour for the best exploration of The Who you will ever see.

Again, all who wish to attend are welcome. If you want to come and need directions etc. let me know! As always, films are subject to change.

When: Saturday, September 20th doors are open after 6:30 and our features should begin around 7pm depending on the sunset.
Where: Gay Gardens. Come right on through the gate, we're in the backyard.
Who: You and your friends are all welcome. The more the merrier at these events.
How: Please bring a lawn chair if you have one, some booze or whatever you want to drink, maybe a snack and certainly a sense of humor. We look forward to seeing you all!

Burners for Obama

My friend Billy made this great sign for distribution. I'm hoping he sends it in to the Burning Man organization cause it turned out great. I'll be printing one out, laminating it and displaying it proudly in Atwater Village.

It is great little things like this that make your day out on the Playa...

Back from Burning Man

I'm sure I'll be writing about my times around the Playa this year, but for now I'm a bit too tired to type coherently...

So after much ado, and an 8 hour white out on saturday, I bring you a snippet of this years burning of the man!
